It doesn’t feel right to make a post without mentioning what’s happening in our world right now. I have been watching video after video of PEACEFUL protestors getting tear gassed and shot at w/ rubber bullets. I have also seen videos of cops laying down their helmets and gear and walking hand-in-hand with protestors. There’s a lot of good happening but there’s also a lot of bad. We have to come together & support our black brothers and sisters to help end the injustices that are taking place everyday. As a white person, I understand that I will never be able to understand what black Americans endure everyday, but with that being said I want to encourage everyone reading this post to do something to help. Below I have listed a couple ways we all can help, but please don’t just stop here. Please educate yourself on systematic racism and help educate those around you. Now is not the time for silence. Resources: Here’s the link to a page where you can learn what you can do to help: https://medium.com/equality-includes-you/what-white-people-can-do-for-racial-justice-f2d18b0e0234 Text FLOYD to 55156 to sign a petition (from change.org) to get the remaining 3 officers involved in the murder of George Floyd convicted. As always, your mental health is important. Below is the Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK There are SO many organizations you can donate to if you’re financially able! But if you’re not able to donate I encourage you to talk. Talk to your family, friends, hair dresser, neighbors, ANYONE who will listen. Spread knowledge, encourage education, be an ally, but most of all let’s listen to our black brothers and sisters. Listen to their anger and sadness; give them a shoulder to cry on. Then support them. Help their voices be heard and walk hand-in-hand with them. Above all, spread kindness and love!!!! “This is not black vs. white. This is everyone vs. racists.”
