When I think of food & fun, I envision desserts. If you know me personally, you know I love to bake but tend to fall short when it comes to cooking. There are a few staples I can throw down with but the main heavy meat cooking, I leave that to my husband.
He can throw down on a grill. Recently, I tried my hand at Homemade Alfredo Sauce and it’s probably the best thing I’ve made. Now I’m not one to follow a recipe unless it’s baking so I started with the basics. A grocery list. What you’ll need:
Once you have your ingredients, it’s time to start cooking. First, I don’t have exact measurements because I cook by randomly throwing ingredients into a pan, but I’ll do my best to explain below. Start by melting 2-3 tablespoons of butter in a pan. Add garlic. I used a heaping tablespoon, maybe a tablespoon and a half of minced garlic. Remember, this is your recipe, add as much garlic you like, I’m just giving you a base to work with. ;) Once the garlic & butter are combined, add 2-3 tablespoons of flour to the mix. This makes a Roux which basically thickens your sauce. Stir, stir, stir. Then add your heavy cream & cheeses. You might need to add a splash of milk to thin the sauce out depending on how much cheese you added. Finally, salt & pepper to taste. There you have it. Now all you need to do is top fettuccine with your sauce. We like to add in shrimp, bacon or chicken to ours. If you make this recipe, tag Bittersweet Babes so we can see how your sauce turned out!
