Tip: Sometimes you have to pull your hair up & get dirty. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for baking & being creative. I’ve tried my hand at an assortment of projects and they all have one thing in common; how i start the process. Like most, I pull my hair up in a pony. Now I know what you’re thinking, this girl is crazy. She’s talking about hair on a food & fun post. And honestly, you’re probably right. But over the past few weeks I’ve shared a few tips on making your own scrunchies & how to make your Memorial Day cookout a bit more festive.
You see, life gets messy and there’s nothing worse than having your hair hanging in your face as you paint a new sign or are rolling out sugar cookie dough. Sometimes you can’t avoid the mess but if you change one tiny thing, such as pulling your hair up, the mess isn’t as bad. Before diving deep into the kitchen with a recipe, I want to share my personal story. Hopefully, my messy, overwhelming adventure relates to yours. And if it doesn’t, I hope we can still connect with all the fun we’re about to embark on. Let me start by saying, I was lucky enough to marry my best friend almost four years ago and if you asked him, this isn’t the journey he saw himself going on. You see, I have PCOS which I’ve known I’ve had for over half of my life. I knew my chances of having kids would be slim without the help of fertility treatment. But Will, this isn’t what he imagined his normal would be. We didn’t expect fertility treatments to not work, or that we’d be almost thirty with no kids. But here we are, in a messy fertility journey. One that causes my mood to change like a kid playing with a light switch, one that breaks our hearts when we hear about friends or family having kids, or one that makes my husband not be a father like he desperately desires. See, life isn’t fair and it’s so messy. But it’s so beautiful too. I have a wonderful husband, we bought our first house, we have food on our table and even with all the crazy in the world, we still have our jobs. Just because you’re going through a mess right now, doesn’t mean it won’t get better. Because it will. We might not be able to see the outcome yet, but don’t let it stop you from experiencing joy. Live your best life & pull your hair up and get dirty.
