Lately I’ve been creating more & I’m obsessed with these wood books I recently made! They’re super simple to make & the perfect weekend craft! What you’ll need:
1 2x8 Board, cut to desired size Sander / Sand Paper Sponge Paint Brushes Stain &/or Paint for wood books Stencil Paint for letter words Steps: Cut your 2x8 to desired book size. Honestly, I just grabbed a book off of our shelf that I liked! Sand your books to remove all rough edges. Optional: Stain your books. I personally prefer the end look of the stain. Once your stain is dry, paint the books white! I use Waverly Chalk Paint! If you didn’t stain your books, go ahead and paint those white. You’ll need to paint 2-3 layers to get a good coating. Fun tip: damp your sponge brush with a little water to make the paint go on smoother & faster! But not too much water. Now that the paint has dried, sand those bad boys. If you stained the books, you’ll get a nice distressed worn look! If you went solid white, we’re just sanding till we have a smooth texture! The books are ready to be stenciled. You can use stencil letters or if you have a Cricut you can make your own! I made my own & to keep the spacing consistent, I placed my words within a rectangle to place on the “book” siding. Place your stencil down & plot with black paint. Let dry before removing stencils. Wrap your stacks with twine & you have the perfect farmhouse decor!
